It utilizes fast slashing combos so you're dishing out more elemental/status in a quick succession. The blast blight (formerly known as Slime) also stacks up fast dealing more damage in a small amount of time.
The SnS abuses the vertical mechanics of the game as much as the Insect Glaive, though you do need ledges the SnS can go upwards one with the unsheathe/X+A attack doing one upward slash and one more downward cut. The item usage with the SnS unsheathed is still in the game so if you need to heal yourself or your allies quickly you can just do it any moment in time.
The SnS has gained a new back hop leading to either a draw attack or a charge attack, you can do this when guarding or in between combos thus making extended combos easier to do. The back hop by the way is hold the left analog stick back (backwards direction where your hunter is facing) while pressing A, holding the A button results in a charge attack which is quite powerful.
Many think the SnS is a starter weapon but in fact, it is a pro weapon when wielded properly just like any other weapon in the game. It can provide support, fast status application and also quicker quest clearing times. So grab your SnS now and join the hunt in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate!
