MH4U! My Mixed Armor Sets! Set #7! GS-GX Hunter!

This has got to be my favorite set to use for great swords that have innate purple sharpness. It's got a multitude of skills that releases the raw potential of great swords and increases its hunting effectiveness. Great swords rely on armor skills to bring out the most of it and this set doesn't fail to do so.

The GX Hunter's armor pieces are perfect for armor mixing, if you haven't got any and you like to mix different pieces of armor, I suggest that you should take the time in getting the tickets needed to craft these wonderful armor pieces because they are more than worth it.

This mixed armor set is one of those armor sets that I like to use against high level guild quests cause it gets the job done fairly well and to be honest, it looks really good for a mixed set. You could make this set with a simpler charm than what I have and you could just replace it with better ones as you get top tier charms along the way when doing high level guild quests, preferably 136+.

The armor pieces and talisman are:

GX Hunter's Casque - OOO
GX Hunter's Armor - OOO
Grand Gloaming Braces - OOO
GX Hunter's Base - OOO
G. Knight Boots (Any torso up boots)
Miracle Charm - Focus +3, Attack +14 OOO

*Thats a lot of slots!!

Since it's made out of rarity 9-10 armor pieces, it's got top tier defense ratings.
Maxed out Defense = 770 (No armor talon/charm)

Elemental Resistance:

Fire +3
Water +5
Thunder -13
Ice +3
Dragon -4

The elemental resistances are almost neutral except for that -13 thunder so watch out for heavy thunder attacks cause it'll hurt a lot if it connects. If it makes you worry too much, eat a meal that raises your thunder resistance and after that, you're good to go!

Decorations needed:

Tenderizer +4 Jewel x1
Tenderizer +1 Jewel x2
Fast Charge +1 Jewel x1
Sheathing +3 Jewel x1
Sheathing +1 Jewel x1
Attack +5 Jewel x1
Attack +1 Jewel x1
Crit Draw +3 Jewel x3

Skills activated:

Quick Sheath (10)
Focus (10)
Critical Draw (11)
Rock Steady (10)
Attack Up L (10)
Weakness Exploit (10)
Slow Sharpening (-12)

*Don't worry about the negative skill Slow Sharpening because it's almost unnoticeable and if it really bothers you, you can eat for Felyne Polisher.

See all of those offensive skills? Yep, you'll cut through monster flesh like a hot knife through butter! Weakness Exploit and Attack Up L give a lot of damage boost whilst Rock Steady gives Earplugs and a bit of character constitution.

All of the basic/core skills that great swords need are there such as Focus and Critical Draw whilst the skill Quick Sheath just makes spamming level 3 unsheathe charges a lot easier than ever before!

This set is one of those serious sets that you need to make if you main the great sword. Also if you don't have any relic great swords that have good raw damage and innate purple sharpness, the Rouge Sedition is a very good weapon to use while you're still grinding for that relic great sword that you've always wanted.

The Rouge Sedition doesn't even need whetstones to keeps its purple sharpness going throughout the hunt, you just got to roll/evade with your weapon out and your sharpness bar will be replenished by 1 with each roll/evade, so yeah, pretty awesome indeed!

Hope you enjoyed reading this and I also hope you get the chance to make this mixed set cause I want my fellow hunters to experience how powerful the great sword is when complimented with the right skill set.

Thank you for checking out my mix sets and have fun doing yours. Happy hunting!

MH4U: My Top 5 Non-Relic Long Swords! (LS)

1. Fatalis Ascencia

The White Fatalis long sword tops this list due to its shear power, sharpness and element! It's also pretty easy to make because it's a one-craft long sword that only needs White Fatalis materials and an Elder Dragon Gem. Once crafted, you're ready to go hunt monsters that are vulnerable to thunder and you'll do wonders against them.
  • Attack - 891
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 690 Thunder
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with white or 90 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - None
  • Rarity - 10

2. Daora's Storm

This LS comes from the Worn Long Sword so good luck getting this beauty! If you have any spare Worn Long Sword inside your inventory, investing some materials in this weapon and upgrading it to its full potential is totally worth it! If you want to imagine just how much power Kushala Daora holds, try this weapon out on ice weak monsters and you'll soon find out!
  • Attack - 891
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 530 Ice
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 40 Hits with white or 40 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 10

3. Lightbreak Edge

The Brachydios LS! The blast element is a good contender against any monster and on a Long Sword? It'll whittle down the monster's HP so fast it'll drop like a fly. A good balance of raw damage, blast and sharpness makes this one of those weapons you just have to have. You can make this from various long swords but the fastest way to get it is to make the Dios Katana and upgrade from there.
  • Attack - 891
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 360 Blast
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with White or 40 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 10

4. Le Décalouge

If you want to see a lot of positive critical strikes landing with a hefty amount of dragon element added on a monster using the long sword, then this one was made for you! The Shagaru Magala long sword is both sharp and powerful! It's got a nice balanced ratio of raw and element but one of the most important reason why this is on my list is that it has an innate 45% Affinity! If you do use this, you'll witness a ridiculous amount of critical hits land almost every time.
  • Attack - 792
  • True Attack - 240
  • Element - 300 Dragon
  • Affinity - +45%
  • Sharpness - 120 Hits with white or 60 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

5. Chaos/Loi

Frenzied or Apex monsters will have a tough time with the Chaos Magala long sword. This long sword packs a punch with its insane raw damage and add a bit of dragon element to that and you've got yourself a formidable weapon to wield. Like the Fatalis Ascencia, this too is a one-craft long sword, yep, it's that easy to make! Though you do have to survive the clutches of Chaotic Magala to get the materials *gulp*.
  • Attack - 990
  • True Attack - 300
  • Element - 100 Dragon
  • Affinity - -30%/10%
  • Sharpness - 40 Hits with white or 30 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 9

*Do note that the attack values here are the original values they started off with, they aren't honed with attack.

There you have MY top 5 non-relic Long Swords! Don't ever be restricted with this list my fellow hunters, let this be a guide or a baseline to help you know what kind of long swords you'd prefer or like. Craft the ones you want to craft and enjoy the game! Always have fun!

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!
