MH4U: The Solo Battle Against Level 140 Monsters! (Rajang, Teostra, Shagaru Magala)

This month after doing hundreds of online high level guild quests, I got myself probably one of the most useful GS that I could ever get and it's served me well against these monsters. To make things better I also got a talisman that just puts the icing on top of my well-done steaa---- errr, cake!

The Miracle Talisman I got by the way is Focus+3, Attack+14 OOO

I always had trouble soloing 140 monsters, I was kind of depressed and lost confidence in my solo hunting because I always wanted to take on challenges but seeing that I was being mopped on the floor by the strongest and highest level of monsters, it took its toll on me and I took like a two week break from playing MH4U.

(By solo I mean no Felynes/Palicos)

Awesome Talisman!
After getting back to hunting, I went to hunt online and got myself the GS and talisman. I thought to myself "Yeah, these are pretty powerful, I'll have to try it out on the toughest monsters possible". So I took a shot at the 140 Rajang that I had on my quest list, and to my surprise I finished the quest under 20 minutes or to be precise it was 19 minutes and 20 seconds.

This was a good quest time for me because I usually do this quest at around 33 minutes, and this GS didn't even have the right element which means it could've been done faster! Well not as fast as those MH4G players that do this in like under 9 minutes but nevertheless it's still an awesome GS.

I was stunned because having these weapons gave me equal grounds on fighting 140 monsters. I was happy, absolutely thrilled and most of all, I got my confidence back. I know this may sound cliche' but never give up. It is possible to solo these guys but it takes time, effort, patience and a lot of water so that you won't burn your head out.

GX mix FTW!
I used my mixed GX Hunter set that gave me some of the most perfect skills for the GS and pair it up with the talisman, it was pretty much one of the most powerful set to make for the GS.

The next monster I tried to solo was the Teostra
which was also 140 and with a bit of practice my fastest time with him was 19 minutes. Another 140 monster done in under 20 minutes! I can finally do these quests without going online! But I still do online by the way cause I like to help others level up their quests from time to time.

140 Teostra almost always one shots you with his normal attacks if you're inflicted with the blast status so watch out for that. I've fought him so many times that I don't even need a timer to know if he's going to go super nova on me when he goes out of rage mode, yep, I fought him that many times!

That's a lot of skills
By the way guys, 140 monsters have three times the base HP of their normal counter part and that's why the quest drags on. It is tedious and infuriating when you fail but it all pays out rewardingly in the end when you do it.

I do a lot of expedition quests to grind for points because leveling relics to its maximum upgraded form takes 30,000 - 40,000 caravan points and while I was grinding for points, I got this 120 Shagaru Magala quest that has a GS/LS bias.

With my new found glory GS I soloed this quest over and over to practice fighting with Shagaru and now it's at level 140. The fastest time I finished the 140 Shagaru Magala was 18 minutes and 32 seconds. They are all possible to compete with solo! Don't worry if you cart a lot because that is part of the training curve that MH4U brings!

Never have doubts in your ability to take down monsters solo! It's just a matter of time! Keep on playing guys and have fun, always have fun! Let's hunt sometimes guys! Happy hunting!
Here's proof

Oh yeah this is the GS I'm mentioning about

Relic Weapon! MH4U! (4th SnS)

Golden Falchion! One of the coolest looking SnS in the history of Monster Hunter! In MH4U the Golden Falchion has a bit of change in it's appearance, don't worry cause the change it has makes it look more fiery and more intimidating than ever before. SnS relics named Golden Falchion don't look like the regular Golden Falchion but takes the appearance of the Platinum Dawn which is more awesome if you ask me! It's like the rage of Silver Rathalos and Golden Rathian combined into one SnS! Now you're wondering why I'm blabbering about the Golden Falchion right? It's because the relic I got has this appearance and it has some nice stats to compliment it as well.

Appearance: Golden Falchion/Annular Sol radiating with a blue aura
Sharpness: 90 hits of white or 90 hits worth of purple and 90 hits of white with Sharpness +1
Element: 200 Blast
Affinity: 0%
Attack: 378 or 420 when fully upgraded
True attack value: 270-300
Defense: +20
Slots/Decorations: Prudence +5
Rarity: 10

If I remember correctly I got this from a 140 Shagaru Magala whom by the way is my favorite Elder dragon to fight (Teostra second of course, he'll always be in my list of favorite monsters to fight). Since it's got incredible Sharpness with Honed Blade/Sharpness +1, Razor Sharp is just an option and therefore I can make use of some other skills. By the way guys, this is my default weapon in my DoomShroom set, so much explosions, damage and support all in one set!

Blast is a nice all around element to use against pretty much any monster, the Blast value in this SnS may be lower than most weapons that you can forge at the smithy, for example Lightbreak Sword and the True Ruiner Sword are well balanced in both raw and blast values but this SnS relic can go toe to toe with them due to it's incredible sharpness and added defense.

Prudence or when activated, Fleet Feet, is either a love or hate relationship with the SnS. As an SnS user like myself I've grown accustomed to the normal/default distance that an evasive roll has so for me, when I use Fleet Feet I sometimes get thrown off my rhythm due to the distance traveled in just one roll, maybe I haven't had enough practice with it but Fleet Feet is a cool skill to have if properly used. The Peak Performance skill is a nice skill to have if you're good at evading but if the monster does so much chip damage via turning around or moving towards you, you're better off without it.

+20 defense may not sound much but when you're hunting level 136-140 monsters, every bit of defense helps because most monsters around that level can 1-2 shot you even if you have maxed out G rank armor. Gunners/Archers are even more fragile due to the lack of defense their armor has, so I salute all the gunners/archers out there who tackle these monsters with unwavering courage.

There you have another addition to my arsenal of notable relics! May you also be lucky to get an even better relic than this! Don't worry if you're having trouble with high level quests, they are truly hard and difficult to beat even with a team of four hunters, practice is the essence of Monster Hunter so go out there and hunt! Happy hunting!

Relic Weapon! MH4U! (2nd Greatsword, GS)

The GS! It's been quite some time since I got my first notable relic GS and now after a lot of high level guild quest hunts, I've got a pretty nice raw-inclined one but sadly due to the amount of quests it's taken me to get it, I forgot to write it down on my notes so now I don't know what specific level or monster I got it from. Nonetheless here is my newest addition to my array of GS!

Appearance: Bolt
Sharpness: 30 hits of white or 30 hits worth of purple and 90 hits of white with Sharpness +1
Element: 720 Water when awakened
Affinity: -25% or -10% when upgraded to the max
Attack: 1680
True attack value: 350
Defense: +0
Slots/Decorations: Prudence +4
Rarity: 9

I was quite hesitant to polish this one because the difference between the honed for attack Cera Cymmetry and this is rather too close but since we're talking about Great swords, every bit of raw damage is always a big help in the long run. The water is ridiculously high if you take into consideration of awakening it.

True armor spheres are rather difficult to farm in MH4U, I seem to only get them on level 100-120 guild quests and these armor spheres are important in upgrading rarity 9-10 relics, though it only needs three pieces to upgraded it once, try thinking of polishing and upgrading multiple relics!

Prudence is a nice skill but it's not a priority for Great swords but one day maybe I'll try to experiment and make it part of my skill set once I get a rather specific charm for it. If you guys ever wondered what 10 points of Prudence does is it gives the skill Fleet Feet which is Evade Distance Up and Peak Performance.

30 hits worth of purple is a lot for a GS because you won't be spamming attacks, GS is all about that level 3 charge and a bit of draw attacks mixed in. One of my favorite skills for GS is Sheathe Control, it's a nice convenient skill to have but sometimes I worry because I think I rely too much on it and it limits me on making a more offensive oriented GS sets.

This'll be a nice upgrade from the Cera Cymmetry though I will miss the look that Cera has, come on! it's MHFU's King Atillart Sword! One of my most memorable and most used weapon in MHFU!

Nonetheless this GS will serve me well like Cera did and maybe even more. If ever I get another piece of relic worth keeping I'll keep you guys updated so that you know what kind of relics are worth polishing, because polishing relics is both time consuming and expensive in terms of zeny and caravan points.

Have a nice day guys! Happy hunting!
