MH4U! My Mixed Armor Sets! Set #8! Heat Source!

Heat Source! This is a my fire elemental mixed armor set that's sure to do justice against monsters susceptible to fire. I like to use this armor set for speedy melee weapons such as the SnS, preferably the Annular Sol or use fire relic DBs that have an enormous amount of purple sharpness when paired with Sharpness +1 or Honed Blade.

*Purple sharpness weapons give out the most bonus damage to elemental attacks, a multiplier of 1.2, so yeah, you're doing 20% more damage with your elemental attacks.*

I like the fact that the armor comes in a nice fiery red color, it just matches the way it looks and how it works. The reason why I made this set is because I hunt a lot of Chameleos and I thought to myself, why not make a set that exploits his fire weakness and tadah!! Heat Source was born! This set does need an Edgemaster +4 relic chest piece so search your inventory thoroughly because you might have one unnoticed. Okay, on to the set itself and what other armor pieces it needs!

The armor pieces and talisman are:

White Fatalis Head - ---
Esurient Armor - Edgemaster +4
Silver SolBraces Z - OO
Silver SolCoil Z - OO
Rathalos Greaves X - O
Miracle Charm - Sharpness +7 OOO

Since it's made out of rarity 9-10 armor pieces, it's got top tier defense ratings.
Maxed out Defense = 754 (No armor talon/charm)

Elemental Resistance:

Fire +5
Water -12
Thunder -10
Ice -2
Dragon +0

Nothing too alarming in terms of elemental resistances, nothing above -20 so it's all good and manageable. A heavy water or thunder attack may hurt a lot but it'll still leave you in one piece.

Decorations needed:

Fire Attack +3 Jewel x2
Fire Attack +1 Jewel x1
Expert +1 Jewel x2
Sharpness +1 Jewel x1

Skills activated:

Honed Blade (10)
Razor Sharp (10)
Fire Atk +3 (20)
Critical Eye +1 (10)

Honed Blade is probably the best blademaster skill out there for weapons that need Sharpness +1, not only does it boost the sharpness bar by one level it also gives Attack Up L! I put in Razor Sharp to get more out of the purple bar and maximize the elemental damage output and to top it off, it has Fire Atk +3!

Fire Atk +3 gives a massive boost to fire elemental weapons! An Annular Sol that has 350 fire will become 490! Elemental damage at those amounts for a speedy weapon is absurd and just think about what high element relics can do, it's just evil I tell you.

The Critical Eye +1 is a bonus feature because the set gives +8 expert and it has a couple of free slots to gem in some expert decorations. Extra offensive skills are always welcomed!

If you haven't tried some heavy elemental damaging blademaster set, then give this one a go, it might give a liking to your taste. Give it an honest try and I promise you, you'll have a lot of fun hunting with Heat Source.

Thank you for checking out my mix sets and have fun doing yours. Happy hunting!

MH4U: My Top 5 Non-Relic Switch Axes! (SA)

1. Ceadeed Axe

This has got to be one of the best, if the not the best craftable switch axe you could ever get. Just look at the those stats, high raw paired with element and a good dose of affinity and defense? topped off with purple sharpness with Sharpness +1? This is madness! Oh yeah it's a power phial switch axe so you're going to do tons of damage whatever mode you're using. The materials needed to make this switch axe comes from Chaotic Gore Magala and you have to trade them to the Wycoon for the Ceadeus parts so good luck getting the materials!
  • Attack - 1566 Power Phial
  • True Attack - 290
  • Element - 330 Water
  • Affinity - +15%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with white or 30 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +20
  • Slots - None
  • Rarity - 10

2. Nether Excellion

This is my favorite thunder switch axe to use because of its good overall stats and it makes hunting monsters weak to thunder all the while easier. It's got impressive sharpness with a bit of affinity too and being an element phial switch axe, it boosts its thunder element during sword mode. It does need a lot of different materials to make such as Critical Brachydios parts, A Zinogre Skymerald and a good amount of Kirin Finehide but once crafted, it's all worth it.
  • Attack - 1512 Element Phial
  • True Attack - 280
  • Element - 360 Thunder
  • Affinity - +10%
  • Sharpness - 180 Hits with white or 60 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

3. Stygian Vanagloria

If you're having trouble against monsters weak to dragon and you're finding yourself in bit of a situation finding a good switch axe to fight them, then this is the answer to your problem. The Stygian Vanagloria is a high raw power phial switch axe that has a nice touch of dragon element. This is a good dragon switch axe that is easy to create and access early on because the parts needed aren't that demanding and it's worth the effort of going through Stygian Zinogre a couple of times just to get his skymerald.
  • Attack - 1512 Power Phial
  • True Attack - 280
  • Element - 350 Dragon
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 90 Hits with white or 40 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - None
  • Rarity - 9

4. Doomaxe "Downpour"

The Devil/Savage Jho switch axe has got to be the most impressive looking switch axe that MH4U has to offer. If you look at it closely you'll see it pulsating with pure power and boy does it look intimidating. It has an absurd amount of raw and if you add in the skill Sharpness +1? Just look at that purple sharpness, come on, that is a lot! Also, you don't need to awaken the element it has since it's a dragon phial switch axe, but if it does bug you, then why not put in some Awaken right?
  • Attack - 1620 Dragon Phial
  • True Attack - 300
  • Element - 180 Dragon
  • Affinity - -10%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with purple or 120 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

5. Azure Straybloom

The Azure Rathalos switch axe is a good poison heavy weapon that has well balanced stats. If a monster is susceptible to poison and you're good at applying pressure and you're keeping the monster poisoned through out the hunt, then it's gonna be an easy ride for you. To make this weapon, you need to work your way from the Dragonmaiden Axe and upgrade from there. The materials aren't that hard to get but you do need to battle different monsters such as Pink Rathian, Azure Rathalos and Chameleos.
  • Attack - 1512
  • True Attack - 280
  • Element - 400 Poison
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 40 Hits with white or 30 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 9

*Do note that the attack values here are the original values they started off with, they aren't honed with attack.

There you have MY top 5 non-relic Switch Axes! If you like a switch axe that isn't on this list, don't fret! We all have our own taste in weapons, some look at the stats whilst some look at the aesthetics. If you like a switch axe that you think is really good, then go and craft that, don't limit yourself to my list, the choice is always yours to make.

If you're having trouble knowing what kind of stats a good switch axe should have then you could use my list to help you decide on that. Have fun as always!

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!

MH4U! My Mixed Armor Sets! Set #7! GS-GX Hunter!

This has got to be my favorite set to use for great swords that have innate purple sharpness. It's got a multitude of skills that releases the raw potential of great swords and increases its hunting effectiveness. Great swords rely on armor skills to bring out the most of it and this set doesn't fail to do so.

The GX Hunter's armor pieces are perfect for armor mixing, if you haven't got any and you like to mix different pieces of armor, I suggest that you should take the time in getting the tickets needed to craft these wonderful armor pieces because they are more than worth it.

This mixed armor set is one of those armor sets that I like to use against high level guild quests cause it gets the job done fairly well and to be honest, it looks really good for a mixed set. You could make this set with a simpler charm than what I have and you could just replace it with better ones as you get top tier charms along the way when doing high level guild quests, preferably 136+.

The armor pieces and talisman are:

GX Hunter's Casque - OOO
GX Hunter's Armor - OOO
Grand Gloaming Braces - OOO
GX Hunter's Base - OOO
G. Knight Boots (Any torso up boots)
Miracle Charm - Focus +3, Attack +14 OOO

*Thats a lot of slots!!

Since it's made out of rarity 9-10 armor pieces, it's got top tier defense ratings.
Maxed out Defense = 770 (No armor talon/charm)

Elemental Resistance:

Fire +3
Water +5
Thunder -13
Ice +3
Dragon -4

The elemental resistances are almost neutral except for that -13 thunder so watch out for heavy thunder attacks cause it'll hurt a lot if it connects. If it makes you worry too much, eat a meal that raises your thunder resistance and after that, you're good to go!

Decorations needed:

Tenderizer +4 Jewel x1
Tenderizer +1 Jewel x2
Fast Charge +1 Jewel x1
Sheathing +3 Jewel x1
Sheathing +1 Jewel x1
Attack +5 Jewel x1
Attack +1 Jewel x1
Crit Draw +3 Jewel x3

Skills activated:

Quick Sheath (10)
Focus (10)
Critical Draw (11)
Rock Steady (10)
Attack Up L (10)
Weakness Exploit (10)
Slow Sharpening (-12)

*Don't worry about the negative skill Slow Sharpening because it's almost unnoticeable and if it really bothers you, you can eat for Felyne Polisher.

See all of those offensive skills? Yep, you'll cut through monster flesh like a hot knife through butter! Weakness Exploit and Attack Up L give a lot of damage boost whilst Rock Steady gives Earplugs and a bit of character constitution.

All of the basic/core skills that great swords need are there such as Focus and Critical Draw whilst the skill Quick Sheath just makes spamming level 3 unsheathe charges a lot easier than ever before!

This set is one of those serious sets that you need to make if you main the great sword. Also if you don't have any relic great swords that have good raw damage and innate purple sharpness, the Rouge Sedition is a very good weapon to use while you're still grinding for that relic great sword that you've always wanted.

The Rouge Sedition doesn't even need whetstones to keeps its purple sharpness going throughout the hunt, you just got to roll/evade with your weapon out and your sharpness bar will be replenished by 1 with each roll/evade, so yeah, pretty awesome indeed!

Hope you enjoyed reading this and I also hope you get the chance to make this mixed set cause I want my fellow hunters to experience how powerful the great sword is when complimented with the right skill set.

Thank you for checking out my mix sets and have fun doing yours. Happy hunting!

MH4U: My Top 5 Non-Relic Long Swords! (LS)

1. Fatalis Ascencia

The White Fatalis long sword tops this list due to its shear power, sharpness and element! It's also pretty easy to make because it's a one-craft long sword that only needs White Fatalis materials and an Elder Dragon Gem. Once crafted, you're ready to go hunt monsters that are vulnerable to thunder and you'll do wonders against them.
  • Attack - 891
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 690 Thunder
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with white or 90 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - None
  • Rarity - 10

2. Daora's Storm

This LS comes from the Worn Long Sword so good luck getting this beauty! If you have any spare Worn Long Sword inside your inventory, investing some materials in this weapon and upgrading it to its full potential is totally worth it! If you want to imagine just how much power Kushala Daora holds, try this weapon out on ice weak monsters and you'll soon find out!
  • Attack - 891
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 530 Ice
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 40 Hits with white or 40 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 10

3. Lightbreak Edge

The Brachydios LS! The blast element is a good contender against any monster and on a Long Sword? It'll whittle down the monster's HP so fast it'll drop like a fly. A good balance of raw damage, blast and sharpness makes this one of those weapons you just have to have. You can make this from various long swords but the fastest way to get it is to make the Dios Katana and upgrade from there.
  • Attack - 891
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 360 Blast
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with White or 40 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 10

4. Le Décalouge

If you want to see a lot of positive critical strikes landing with a hefty amount of dragon element added on a monster using the long sword, then this one was made for you! The Shagaru Magala long sword is both sharp and powerful! It's got a nice balanced ratio of raw and element but one of the most important reason why this is on my list is that it has an innate 45% Affinity! If you do use this, you'll witness a ridiculous amount of critical hits land almost every time.
  • Attack - 792
  • True Attack - 240
  • Element - 300 Dragon
  • Affinity - +45%
  • Sharpness - 120 Hits with white or 60 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

5. Chaos/Loi

Frenzied or Apex monsters will have a tough time with the Chaos Magala long sword. This long sword packs a punch with its insane raw damage and add a bit of dragon element to that and you've got yourself a formidable weapon to wield. Like the Fatalis Ascencia, this too is a one-craft long sword, yep, it's that easy to make! Though you do have to survive the clutches of Chaotic Magala to get the materials *gulp*.
  • Attack - 990
  • True Attack - 300
  • Element - 100 Dragon
  • Affinity - -30%/10%
  • Sharpness - 40 Hits with white or 30 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - Two Slots
  • Rarity - 9

*Do note that the attack values here are the original values they started off with, they aren't honed with attack.

There you have MY top 5 non-relic Long Swords! Don't ever be restricted with this list my fellow hunters, let this be a guide or a baseline to help you know what kind of long swords you'd prefer or like. Craft the ones you want to craft and enjoy the game! Always have fun!

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!

MH4U: My Top 5 Non-Relic Great Swords! (GS)

1. Cera Cymmetry

On number one is Cera Cymmetry! The Diablos GS takes the top spot with its sadistic power. This is what Great Swords should be, only relics can top off the raw damage that this GS has. You can go and do quests by going raw damage all the way and this will still get the job done in no time. If you're ever having trouble getting Diablos Hardhorns, pick the G-rank Diablos that has the subquest in breaking its horns, just rinse and repeat that until you've got the desired amount of horns to make one of the best craftable GS in MH4U. (I still call this one King Atillart :O)
  • Attack - 1536
  • True Attack - 320
  • Element - None
  • Affinity - -20%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits with blue or 20 hits of purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 9

2. Rouge Sedition

The Seregios GS comes in second! With innate purple sharpness and the ability to gain 1 sharpness for every roll/dodge you make, makes this a top contender in dishing out consistently high damage throughout the hunt while not even using whetstones. Mostly made out of Seregios parts but requires three Conqueror's Seal to max it out on upgrades. It doesn't even need Sharpness +1 which means you can focus on getting other offensive skills such as Weakness Exploit, Attack Up L/XL and more!
  • Attack - 1392
  • True Attack - 290
  • Element - 310 Blast / 370 Dragon
  • Affinity - +20%
  • Sharpness - 10 Hits of purple
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

3. Black Fatalis Blade

This GS oozes with power and element making this a good candidate in taking out monsters weak to dragon. This one could possibly be at a higher ranking but since utility is taken into consideration, this makes it to number three instead! This GS brings forth the calamity of Black Fatalis and boy is it a force to be reckoned with. If you want to craft this GS you'll be grinding for multiple Black Fatalis parts, both high rank and G-rank! (Oh yeah, it also needs a Devil Jho Crook and a Large Elder Dragon Gem for its last upgrade, but don't worry cause it's all worth it!)
  • Attack - 1488
  • True Attack - 310
  • Element - 430 Dragon
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Sharpness - 20 Hits with blue or 30 hits with purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

4. Flame Fatalis Blade

If you're having trouble battling against monsters that are extremely weak to fire, then this GS will surely solve your problem! It has over-the-top catastrophic fire potential and has a long purple sharpness bar when paired with Sharpness +1, which by the way, makes the most out of elemental damage. You'll have to go through Crimson Fatalis to get his materials and cough up an Elder Dragon Gem from Elder Dragons to craft this one.
  • Attack - 1200
  • True Attack - 250
  • Element - 1000 Fire
  • Affinity - +20%
  • Sharpness - 60 hits with white or 90 hits with purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - None
  • Rarity - 10

5. Daora's Deathmaker

There are a lot of monsters weak to ice and one way to exploit that is by using Daora's Deathmaker! Its name isn't taken lightly and it does what it's named for. Good raw, high ice and purple sharpness with Sharpness +1? Yes please! This GS starts from the Rusted Great Sword, if you're ever wondering where you can get that it's only a chance from rustshards which are mined at high rank maps such as the Frozen Seaway, Volcanic Hollow, Dunes (Night) and Heaven's Mount. The last upgrade of this GS also needs a Rathian Mantle and an Elder Dragon Gem so get your hunting gear ready!
  • Attack - 1296
  • True Attack - 270
  • Element - 520 Ice
  • Affinity - 10%
  • Sharpness - 50 hits with white or 30 hits with purple with Sharpness +1
  • Defense - +0
  • Slots - One Slot
  • Rarity - 10

*Do note that the attack values here are the original values they started off with, they aren't honed with attack.

There you have MY top 5 non-relic Great Swords! If you feel like you're being restricted by this list, don't be! Try out other GS that you like! Don't settle for just these five GS that I've listed, craft the ones you want and use it to your pleasure! Because the goal here is to have fun.

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!

MH4U: My Top 5 Non-Relic Bows!

1. Kama Sedition

Power Shot, high affinity, high raw and Rapid 5! Though it does need Load Up to unlock the level 3 charge, this will still be one of those end game bows that you'll be using quite often. Getting this bow will test your mettle against Seregios because almost every material needed to make this comes from him, and oh yeah, you also need a couple of Conqueror's Seal that only special G-rank monsters give as a reward (ie. Akantor etc.).
  • Attack - 384
  • True Attack - 320
  • Power Shot
  • Element - None
  • Affinity - 30%

2. Akantor Chaos Bow

The famous Akantor Chaos Bow comes back with all its glory and power! High damage output due to its raw and affinity and as an added bonus, it's got some high dragon element as well! This bow also needs Load Up to get that third bow charge but it's such a small price to pay to do some crazy damage with its Rapid 5. Most of the materials needed to make this comes from Akantor and a B. Gravios Pallium to upgrade it to the max.
  • Attack - 360
  • True Attack - 300
  • Blast Arc Shot

3. Heedful Elizabeth

Want to demolish monsters terrifyingly weak to water?! Well this bow will do that and even more! High element, decent raw and  it can also be turned into a pierce type water bow via the skill Load Up! Though it lacks innate Power Coating, you can always gem it in or just focus on elemental bowing instead. The materials needed to make this bow are trades from the Wycoon, high rank Devil Jho parts are traded for the high rank Cedeaus parts whilst Chaotic Magala materials for the Cedeaus G-rank materials.
  • Attack - 324
  • True Attack - 270
  • Power Shot

4. Uranus Herald

Pierce giant monsters weak to fire with this bow and you'll surely clear that quest fast! This is a strange but epic bow and it's strong nonetheless! Its overall stats are above average on most parts and it doesn't need any special skill to unlock its full potential. If you plan on making this bow it starts off with low rank Rathalos parts and ends up using G-rank Silver Rathalos materials for its last upgrade.
  • Attack - 336
  • True Attack - 280
  • Power Shot
  • Element - 200 Fire
  • Affinity - 0%
  • Charge Levels - Rapid 3, Spread 3, Pierce 5, (Pierce 5)
  • Coatings Available - Power,  Poison

  • Slots - No Slots
  • Rarity - 10

5. Great Purple Emperor II

This one is a cool bow due to the fact that it can do almost anything because it's got a bit of everything! It has good overall stats with a bit of affinity and defense added and also has access to coatings that we bow users care about. This is a pretty nice bow to use for inflicting various statuses and good to use both solo and online play. If you're planning to make this bow, it's made out of Daimyo Hermitaur parts and later on upgrades with P. Daimyo Hermitaur materials

  • Attack - 312
  • True Attack - 260
  • Power Shot
  • Element - 230 Water
  • Affinity - 10%

*Do note that the attack values here are the original values they started off with, they aren't honed with attack.

There you have MY top 5 non-relic bows! There are a lot of good craftable bows out there, never limit your curiousness with bows by just using the five bows I've listed here, go and experiment and have fun as always.

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!

Games News: StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Out Now!

Legacy of the Void is out! Grab a copy now and see all the major changes they've had on a lot of units. Check it out here if you want to see the LAUNCHING TRAILER and see all the CG cinematic Blizzard has created because they are so awesome that they could make a movie out of what they've done, incredible quality if you ask me. If you, for some reason haven't checked out the opening cinematic, just click right HERE!

Legacy of the Void is the last chapter in the three part series that StarCraft 2 has and it's all about the survival of the Protoss race and how they are able to unite once again to fight a common foe. This is the last piece of the story that has yet to unfold in the StarCraft universe and we are all eagerly waiting to know what's the next thing that's gonna happen.

It's been quite some time since Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm came out that Legacy of the Void looks like a brand new StarCraft game with all its uniqueness and changes. Here is a list of units that are new/changed to Legacy of the Void.

Protoss

  • Adept (New) - Ranged unit strong against light armor, has the ability to create an illusion of itself to transfer to.
  • Disruptor (New) - Ground unit that has the ability to discharges energy dealing massive damage at an AoE.
  • Carrier - Gains a new skill that sends out its interceptors to a specific area and continues to attack that area for a certain time limit, the interceptors do die after the ability is over.

  • Mothership Core - Photon Overcharge can only be used on Pylons.
  • Oracle - The Revelation ability now has the effect of Envision. Gains a new ability called Stasis ward which is a trap that makes enemies in an AoE to stop moving/attacking and also can't be attacked.
  • Tempest - Has a new ability called Disintegration.
  • Warp Prism - Warping units now only take 2 seconds. Can now pick up units from a distance.
Terran
  • Cyclone (New) - Mechanical unit that has an ability called Lock On.
  • Liberator (New) - Air unit that has two modes, one for air, which has a splash damage on air units and one for ground but the ground/AG mode makes it stationary and only attacks an effective AoE.
  • Banshee - Speed can now be increased by researching Hyperflight Rotors at the Fusion Core.
  • Battlecruiser - Gains a teleporting ability that can be done anywhere on the map called Tactical Jump, costs a lot of energy.
  • Ghost - Can now make drones that decrease the armor of targeted enemy units by 3.
  • Marauder - Gains an extra attack boost.
  • Medivac Dropship - Loses the energy upgrade but is replaced by a new upgrade that makes it faster at dropping units.
  • Reaper - Can now throw grenades that do damage and knockback.
  • Siege Tank - Can now be picked up by Medivacs while in siege mode.
  • Thor - Gains a new ability called Explosive Payload which is an active skill that does more damage to light units and makes its air attack do splash damage. The Thor does lose its previous skill High Impact Payload.
Zerg
  • Lurker (New) (Awww Yeah!) - Ground unit that burrows and attacks units in a straight line.
  • Ravager (New) - Roaches can now mutate into a Ravager which is a ground unit that has siege capabilities because of its skill Corrosive Bile.
  • Corruptor - Gains a new ability called Caustic Spray which is a channeling skill that does high damage to buildings over time.
  • Hydralisk - Can now morph into a Lurker.
  • Infestor - Gains a new ability called Aggressive Mutation that buffs friendly units attack.
  • Nydus Worm - Nydus Worm is invulnerable when coming out of the ground.
  • Overlord - Loses Ventral Sacs upgrade but you can choose which Overlord to use to make it carry units.
  • Swarm Host - Burrow must now be researched for them and they can't move while burrowed but they can now create locusts whilst moving. Later game the locusts can fly and swoop to attack units/building
  • Viper - Gains the ability Parasitic Bomb, it targets air units and deals damage over time.

See how much has changed?! That is a lot to look out for and never forget the excitement that the campaign brings! I'm looking forward to playing Legacy of the Void for myself because I'm just one of those kids that grew up playing Broodwar and later on, StarCraft 2.

Let's all experience this awesome game and share it to everyone who loves a great real time strategy game, heck let's share it to all kinds of gamers! Let's all have fun because that's what really matters the most!

As what the Protoss says, "My Life For Aiur!"

If you guys haven't noticed, I am a massive fan of the Monster Hunter series and I'm thrilled to see how the series has been evolving through time. They keep on adding stuff that makes the game even more better every time!

So what do we expect from MHX? Here is what we can try to figure out by watching the trailer:

1. Well of course new monsters! New monsters are always welcome and so are reappearing monsters! I've got my eyes on you Nargacuga and Amatsu! (You too Elite Four!)

2. Hunting Styles! This gives the players the chance to customize their hunter to use their preferred hunting style along with their preferred hunting arts making our hunters as unique as we players are!

We can confirm that there are four different hunting styles which are:

  • Guild Style - An all rounder kind of style that focuses on how we regularly play the game like previous iterations but with newly added stuff of course.
  • Aerial Style - Use monsters, bombs, cats, players etc. to catapult yourself up high and strike at foes as you descend! I've seen some aerial style LBG videos and it just looks awesome!
  • Striker Style - This style differs from others as it is almost like the guild style but there are some changes here and there and this style can equip a lot of hunting arts and as an added bonus, the hunting arts meter fill up faster compared to the others!
  • Bushido Style - This style is profoundly unique because with this style you can perform perfect evades/guard! I feel that this style is the one that needs the most practice.

3. When adding new monsters they also add in newly designed armor and armor skills! MH4U had a load of new skills and it was really fun messing around with it especially the armor skill Mushromancer! (Free dash juice! Well, almost free :O)

4. Hunting arts! Flashy skills that do insane amounts of damage as well as other arts that give buffs and healing, kind of like a support type hunting art. I also heard that these arts level up as you progress through the story or as you take on specific quests making them more powerful than ever which is really nice by the way. There are hunting arts that are specific to weapon types and there are independent arts that you can use on any type of weaponry. Mix and match as I say!

5. New maps to explore and maps from previous Monster Hunter titles are back! Oh Yukumo village how I've missed you! MHP3rd days!

6. We can play as Felynes/Palicos or whatever the cats are called in MHX! It's so amusing beating a Buldrome with paw sticks! It's both hilarious and entertainingly satisfying at the same time!

MHX may be a generation four Monster Hunter title but it can surely stand up on its own and it can hold its head up high proudly! Get on the hype train for MHX and let's all hope for a western release so that we can experience this gem of game! Happy hunting!

MH4U: The Magnificent Power Shot Type Bows!

Ever since the first time I saw the Bow do a second consecutive shot on video demo of MH4U back in January 2015, I already knew that the Bow will be even more destructive than it was on previous iterations.

I've been a Bow user ever since MHFU and I'm very happy on how the Bow has evolved throughout the series. It is a versatile ranged weapon that you can use it solely by only relying on raw or you can mix and change your play-style to a status specialist and cripple the monster with poison and paralyze. If you haven't tried it, you're missing on a simple yet fun and entertaining to use weapon.

The Power Shot was only a dream to us Bow users back in MHFU/MH3G, we've always dreamt that it would have something like a quick shot and now it has graced us with its awesomeness and finesse.

Okay guys to make thing really simple, the Power Shot doubles your damage but not just damage, it also doubles the efficiency of inducing status and elemental damage. It also makes using the level 4 charge of the Bow more viable because of its rapid succession.

Here is a simple calculation of what the Kama Sedition, one of the most powerful craftable bows, can do.

I'll be using my mixed armor set for Bows which has the following skills:

Ruthlessness
Load Up
Normal Up
Focus
Attack Up M

A honed Kama Sedition has 408 attack on display or 340 true attack. Let's say I also have the Power Charm/Talons in my inventory that adds 15 true attack and I ate for Felyne Attack Up L which increases base damage by 7 and lastly the armor skill Attack Up M which adds another 15 points of base damage.

So in total I have 377 of true attack power and while on quest I took a Might Seed which bumps it up to 387.

We'll be using Shagaru Magala's head which has a hitzone of 0.60 (or 0.65 with Weakness Exploit) and we'll assume that he's at level 140 so that we have a defense modifier of 0.65.

(Raw Attack) x (Optimal Distance) x (Charge Level) x (Power/Close Range Coating) x (Critical) x (Normal Up Bonus) x (Motion Value) x (Defense Modifier) x (Hitzone) = Damage

So it'll be..

387 x 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.25 x 1.1 x 0.22 x 0.65 x 0.65 = 166.9 or 170

But wait! the Kama Sedition is capable of doing a Power Shot! So it does a total of 340!

If you're good at sniping monster weak points with the Kama Sedition you'll have no problem at all! It just needs a lot of practice like all the other weapons.

I also said in a previous statement above that level 4 charge shots will do massive damage with the Power Shot because level 4 charge shots have a charge level modifier of 1.7 whilst level 3 charges only have 1.5, elemental damage also scales with the charge! The only draw back to doing level 4 charges all the time is that it takes too long and easily depletes your stamina at the same time.

But nonetheless Power Shot Bows have ridiculous damage output! I've seen MH4G solo players that makes minced meat out of level 140 monsters with the proper skill setup! The Bow could be one of the hardest weapons to master but it is also one of the most rewarding.

More power to the Bow! Happy hunting!

MH4U: Great Sword (GS) Damage Calculation!

I've been using the GS for a while now and I've noticed that it's a very terrifying weapon due to the insane amount of damage it does in one hit. I've searched the internet on how the damage is calculated and here is what I've found out.

Charging the GS grants it a bonus charge damage multiplier which is dependent on which level of charge was used

The unsheathe attack can also be considered the level 0 charge and it doesn't have any multiplier.

The level 1 charge gets a bonus multiplier of 1.1.

The level 2 charge gets a bonus multiplier of 1.2.

The level 3 charge gets a bonus of a whooping 1.3.

Say we have a maxed out raw GS relic with a natural purple sharpness. The displayed damage on that GS would be 1728 but since MH4U has weapon modifiers to hide the true attack value, we divide 1728 with 4.8 which is the modifier for the GS to get the true attack value.

The true attack value would now be 360. This is just the raw GS itself and doesn't have any other added attack bonuses for now.

I have a mixed set made out of GX Hunter parts that have the following skills:

Focus
Crit Draw
Weakness Exploit
Attack Up XL
Rock Steady
Quick Sheath
Slow Sharpening (Negative skill)

This set will be the basis of my calculations.

To the important stuff!

1.With this set and every food/item buff eaten/added my total raw is now 417.

2. Purple sharpness grants a 1.45 bonus damage sharpness modifier.

3.The hitzone we'll use is an enraged Teostra's head which is 0.6 for cutting or 0.65 with the Weakness Exploit skill.

4. This will be a 140 Teostra having a defense modifier of 0.65

5. Maxed out GS relics have a -10% affinity when upgraded but we'll just have to assume that the attack we do is a critical granted by the Crit Draw skill which gives an added 100% affinity on unsheathing attacks.

*Crit Draw isn't an auto critical it just adds 100 affinity meaning the GS we are using has an innate draw attack affinity of 90. Critical attacks do 1.25x more damage.

6. We'll also use Might Seeds because Might Seeds adds 10 true attack for 3 minutes and is more easier to produce than Might Pills but do use Might Pills if have them in absurd quantities. Might Pills adds 25 more true attack by the way!

7. We are using the level 3 charge.

8. If you hit the monster with the center of your blade you do 1.05x more damage.

9. We ate for Felyne attack up L which adds 7 true damage.

10. Attack Up XL adds 25 true damage.

11. We won't be using Felyne heroics.

12. We'll also fit in the Power Charm/Talon into the equation because if both of those items are inside your inventory you gain 15 more true attack. Don't ever forget to bring these!

On to the equation!

(True Raw) x (Sharpness) x (Motion Value) x (Charge Bonus) x (Crit Draw) x (Center Of Blade) x (Defense Modifier) x (Hitzone) = Damage Output

417 x 1.45 x 1.1 x 1.3 x 1.25 x 1.05 x 0.65 x 0.65 = 479.47 or 480

That is a lot of damage for just a single hit and this is just raw damage only.

Teostra has 5300  base HP but if he's a level 140 Teostra his HP triples to 15900.

The scenario for the equation I've created is more oriented on solo hunting thus it lacks Hunting Horn buffs which add a massive 20% more damage on encore.

I've been playing MH for so long that I've become interested on how they compute the damage! And this proves how devastation a pin point level 3 GS hunter is! Even if you don't have a maxed out relic and say you only have the Rouge Sedition which has 310 true raw if honed for attack you'll do (Let me just substitute the values for a sec) 422 which is still a lot!

Don't worry and do some high level guild quests and one day you'll get your overpowered GS relic. Happy hunting!
